It would seem that spring has begun to think about staying.
For the Russian and me, this is our first year creating our very own yard. You'd think we'd be thrilled - and we are - but he says of an evening, "You really ought to decide which kind of privacy trees you want on the west side of the yard so we can get them planted."
Which kind, which kind. Ugh.
We were in 5th gear all last year in the decision making sector, but seem to have slipped back into first, or is that reverse?
I'm thinking evergreens - the tall, pointy kind you see in France and Italy - to shield us a bit from the new house being built behind ours. Just a few off to the far right. But that apple tree is in my way!
Suggestions?

Sounds like a visit to an arboreteum is in mind.I like the tall evergreens, but also lke the color change.
The nice thing about evergreens is they will provide you with the privacy year round AND you don't have to rake up leaves!
evergreens are beautiful. probably grow well there, too!
Leave the apple tree! There is nothing better than food from one's own yard! You could probably squeeze in a few evergreens, and lots and lots of flowers. ;)
Mix it up. Two tall evergreens sort of next to each in the sparse area to the right. Then another something in front of them...maybe like a Holly if they grow there...or some sort of flowering thick bush native to the area. Leave the apple tree. Such lovely flowers it has. Think of the pretty pictures you will take for us. There will be plenty of privacy once all the trees leaf out. You can always add more evergreens next year.
I like the twigs surrounding the plant.
Oh, how exciting to be able to garden :)
Evergreens are lovely, but take some time to fill in -- I would suggest a front row of hybrid willows if they grow there which I'm sure they will -- you'll have 15 foot trees in about 4 years.
Hi Alli, I love your back yard- ditto all the greenery advice the others said.
except the gobbledygoo jargon above my head <:)
Have you ever heard that saying "Fences make good neighbors" In you case it will be trees. Lets us know what type of tree you guys chose.
