Yesterday I had an opportunity to visit United Nations Headquarters in Geneva.
Did you know that not a single country can be excluded from the UN for a lack of financial means?
39 feet high and weighing in at 5 1/2 tons, Broken Chair by Swiss artist Daniel Berset is a reminder of the pursuit of global peace. The memorial decries landmines that have taken and broken the lives and bodies of innocent people worldwide.

Btw. this week I am going out from work so let that I didn't have a chance to go shopping. Hopefully I will find what I am looking for you on weekend:)
I agree with Ola. This is a very thought-provoking piece of art. I'm so glad you shared it with us, Allison.
This is one of the many reasons I love blogging. I get to see things I never normally would otherwise. Hugs. :)
Interesting sculpture, sad story about landmines, thanks for showing us Geneva,,,M
Very interesting sculpture...I'm with Nancy, I love blogging because of posts like this. I get to read and see things from the comforts of my home.
I tried in vain to sit down, but alas I was to short. I am only 5'2" that's the short story of my life.
I am aware about the UN.. the USA picks-up a big tab.
be well, be happy'

Neat sculpture indeed, and definitely makes a point. UN headquarters - see, I told you you reminded me of Nicole Kidman in "The Interpreter". :)

Hmm, I like that fact about the UN having to let everyone be a part. Were you there for translations?
