The best Mother's Day present, besides the sweet songs my children sing to me in the morning and the freshly gathered bouquets they bring to me in bed, is the memory of carrying each of them inside me. It is a gift I will never forget; an intimacy that cannot be broken.

In a more distant past... my own mother carrying me in her arms. And I know beyond a doubt that she felt the same love and intimacy with me.

And my nana before her ...

What is Mother's Day if not an expression of that which already is? Tribal love passed on and on - women of a same blood loving one another into the next generation, ultimately shoving their children off and away into the waters of their own lives... and watching them sail.

"Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying 'Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all'. Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." (Proverbs 31:28-30)

Such a wonderful tribute to this Mom. Yes, that is you in my arms. What a joy to have you after fearing for 9 long months that I would lose you. You are truly a Mackey with lots of spunk and toughness in you. Love you Allison, more than you know. Your Mom

Beautiful Allison! Happy Mother's day to you. Being a mom is such a blessing. What a journey it is. I enjoyed reading this as I down my first cup of coffee, and my girls just begin rustling about. What a treat to see the photos! You know we love your mom.
