Epiphany - or la Fête des Rois !
On the 6th of January in Switzerland, you bake raisin sweet bread made of a dozen or so rolls, top it with almonds or sugar and hide inside one of the rolls a tiny king.
The lucky eater who finds the king (and doesn't break her teeth on it!) gets the crown!

Very nice tradition!
A lovely tradition!
Mouth watering! :-D
I'm falling in love with Switzerland ;) What a wonderful tradition!
Neat tradition.
Sounds like the "Fat Tuesday" tradition here in the States (actually New Orleans). They bake a King's cake - frosted with purples and greens for carnival colors. In one piece is a token that you hope to get. It's tradition for Carnival before Ash Wednesday and Lent begins... :)
How wonderful! Carla
Sounds wonderful and that bread looks so delicious. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
What a nice celebration, nobody realizes this holiday.
Okay...I have a friend who is headed your way in a few weeks. Think I will hide in his suitcase!!!!!
Love your traditions.
That looks like a ton of fun! My kids would flip if they found stuff in their food. Has anyone broken a tooth? :)
Texwisgirl said was I was going to say -- but the early bird gets the worm so I'll have to come up with something else. ;)
So who got the king? Inquiring minds want to know. :)
Lovely tradition... lovely!
Kisses and hugs, dear.
Yes, I want to know who found the king also! Beautiful bread, wish I were there to eat it with you :)
No teeth broken in our family, but we hear of people who break them ever year! :D
Good grief...what are people thinking putting toys in their food?
I guess one must be very careful with their food on that day. Nice tradition to keep.
Chez nous, c'est Louis qui a été couronné roi! Il est tombé sur une jolie princesse en céramique :D
