The warm weather lured us from our den...

Into my backpack went the last coveted Jiffy Pop popcorn and my only bag of giant-sized marshmallows from our last trip to Chicago.

The wild things of the forest wanted to run free and sleeveless in the February chill ... and I was forced to use my mom-voice.

"Put - that - sweatshirt - ON!"

Little Swiss children always know how to wield pocket knives. Skiing and knives; a Helvetic rite of passage.

And so their two worlds collide, and blend... army knives to prime the sticks on which to roast american marshmallows. Ah!

And as the sun set, we meandered toward home in comradery ... some on bikes, some on foot, others (like me) bumbling through a freshly fertilized field! Some things never change...

Hard to tell what season it is from those photos. That one marshmallow is roasted to the most deliciously perfect shade of brown!

Oh you make me want to pack up a case of marshmallows and send them your way but I'd be afraid they'd be stale by the time they got thru customs!!! I know how you love them tho as you mentioned them once before on your blog way back when... (when I discovered you, I read thru your entire blog, I think...) Let me know if you get desperate for the mallow and I'll see what I can do!

Those marshmallows! Just seeing them makes me laugh in remembering...so I'm glad to see them happy on the end of a pointed stick, sharpened by hobbits who don't feel the cold, (especially the elfin one disguised as a hobbit), roasted to make memories to line your pockets.

A commodity, marshmallows. I forget about a few items like that.Coming back from Czech I pulled out peanut butter and had all the exchange students sitting near me.

Nothing better then roasted marshmallows! Everyone has their own roasted taste for them. The girls & hubby like it lightly toasted. I love to turn them black & crunchy, pull off the the crust & roast again :)

I think it is wonderful that your children have the best of two worlds! It looks like a fun time was had by all. The weather is warming a little here too. Bring on Spring! Carla

Sound like a wonderful day and the marshmallows look tasty but your last Jiffy Pop! Do we need to have plane drop a load of rations?
