Château d'Alt-Falkenstein
Balsthal, Switzerland

You ring the bell and hope the gatekeeper is home.

A museum displays various periods of local history.

The castle dates to the first half of the 12th century, which in my American friend's mind is ... "old! I want to see old!".

Looks very comfortable inside for a castle. I guess I was expecting something Viking-ish. I guess they must have remodeled? :)

I'm following you right back.

I was thinking it would be more "cold" looking inside...Happy to see it with a more "warmer" look.

Alt-Falkenstein?

Wow. Gorgeous! Although that electric chandelier doesn't seem very old. ;)

I will have to agree with most of the comments. The picture going down the stairs is my favorite. I also love all the wood tools on the wall. Great photos Allison.
