There are times in my life of ex-patriotism when I feel a deep love for the place despite myself... views such as this inspire that.

But as an ex-patriot you learn to live in a kind of surreal waiting. You wait all day for your family and friends to wake up in the west, and when they finally do, you must remember that they are just starting their day while you are ending yours. Inevitably, you wait up late into the night for them to have their lunch break or get off work so you can call or communicate with them in some way. And then you go to bed, and wake up the next day only to start the whole process over.

You wait for an English television show to come on the air... you wait for Reese's to come to the stores... you wait for a box, a letter, a connection with the person you used to be - with what, in your mind, is the real world.

Think I'm crazy? Perhaps just a bit. But though the grass is definitely greener on my side of the hill, your side sometimes looks quite comforting nonetheless.

It is called feeling a little homesick Allisson! No matter how well adjusted we think we are we always "miss" something from our past! Nothing wrong with that! We have a friend who has been living in USA for eighteen years now who ALWAYS calls us anytime night or day..."because HE misses home!"

I can't imagine how you feel, but I can certainly empathize.

I have lived almost my entire life in Nebraska -- and at this point in my life, I don't have the desire to be anywhere else.

Big hugs, Allison. Wish I could have a cup of tea or coffee with you right now. :)

I'll join Nancy sharing a cup of coffee with you Allison.
I too can't imagine living anywhere else but the Mid-West where I've always lived.
Sending you a big hug as well!

I am sending you a hug today, and so much love...if I could pop a Reese's through the computer I would - but as I can't you'll have to watch the mail.

Ohh have you tried the new reeses minis?I got their eggs, three packages.Still have a few, my daughter missed where i had them hid.It does get bizzare when away from your original home. People ask me my hometown and I am not sure where that is.I have moved a lot.

I too can only imagine what it must be like. Its the "catch 22" of life. I've always lived here & have always wondered what it would be like to REALLY move away. I think I'd love the experience, but would become way to homesick :(
You name it & I'll send you a piece of "home" when ever you need it :) And you can keep sharing your beautiful country with me, so I can live through you on what it could be like if I ever left this place! :)

Aww, sounds like your feeling a bit blue! It's a good thing you have the internet - you can leave messages and they can respond when they can!

Oh my goodness. I KNOW this feeling!!! It's happened to me lots before- maybe not for the length that yours has been- but I do know.
hugs.
life seems to be a waiting game sometimes....and yet it carries on.
I want to come over there and visit. Waiting for that to happen too...

To my dear sweet Allison, we miss you and wait for the visiting time again. How I wish I could "pop" over there sometime for that "tea time". Did you get the Reese's eggs we sent in your last package? When you come, we'll have plenty in for you. Hugs to you. Love your Mom

Ma chère amie! Les cafés chez moi sont déjà rares, je n'ose pas imaginer si tu habitais de l'autre côté de l'Océan :( Heureusement que nous chantons dans le même chorale :)

Allison,
We experienced a little of that time lag last week when Catie and John were in Switzerland. We couldn't get together on our communication. I felt your pain. Just know that you have a friend on this side who loves you deeply...even though we have never met! Hopefully one day we will. P.S. Catie fell in love with Switzerland! :) Carla
