There are things about the heartland that many foreigners do not understand. The Beef-A-Roo might be one of them. I can hear them now...

"All ze Americans eat are hamburgers and fast fud". Well, sadly for them, they are missing out on America's best-kept secret ... that there is more to diners than just fast food!

I couldn't help but pull over and admire this little dive.

Where is the culture in a joint like this? It's right here, my friend. I'd trade filet de veau à la sauce aux morilles anyday for one of these burgers. Just make sure there's a juke box - and bring on the go-go boots!

We love stopping at diners like this one and you're right, it's not all about the food.

Because of your enthusiasm, I just read the reviews, too, Steve! I could kick myself for missing out on the cheese fries... I won't miss 'em on my next trip!

A blast from my past. I grew up with diners and juke boxes at each table.
Then there was the corner soda fountain where we gathered and play pinball.. Aww, the good ole Happy days of my youth.

Allison, Thanks for a walk down memory lane...
